High-Bandwidth Arbitrary Signal Detection Using Low-Speed Electronics

The growing demand for bandwidth and energy efficiency requires new solutions signal detection processing. We demonstrate a concept high-bandwidth with low-speed photodetectors electronics. method is based on the parallel optical sampling of sinc-pulse sequences provided by Mach-Zehnder modulator. For electronic processing this enables to divide $B$ into notation="LaTeX">$N$ electrical signals baseband notation="LaTeX">$B/(\text{2}\,N)$ . In proof-of-concept experiments notation="LaTeX">$N=3$ , we present 24 GHz detectors only 4 GHz. ideal components, down-conversion does not add an excess error even non-ideal components our setup, it below 1%. Thus, rms measurement was reduced factor about 3.4 effective number bits were increased 1.8.
